Umbrellas For Peace at AUK

The Matt Lamb Umbrellas for Peace project started after the attacks of 9/11 as an initiative by the artist to promote peaceful coexistence amongst peoples of different backgrounds. The project is currently being undertaken by students at the American University of Kuwait.

Lamb is a self-taught Irish-American artist born in 1932, who at the age of 51, decided to sell of his businesses after a near-death experience, and to work towards making a real difference in the world. His artwork is part primitive fauvism, part child-like spirituality, and (dare we say?) reminds us a little bit of Chagall's..

Some of the artist's work is being displayed at AUK with the umbrellas that were painted by students for the Umbrellas for Peace project.
